The program will cover topics as diverse as architecture, economic development, climate change, earth sciences, and history.

The course will also take you beyond the classroom and into the mountains in a series of field trips and case studies tied to the latest in current research. The first week will take participants to the Vercors range to learn fist-hand about economic policy and changing local cultural practices.

The second week includes a two-day trip to Lautaret pass and its geological transect to meet with UGA researchers, see the unique and beautiful botanical gardens, and experience sleeping in a mountain shelter. You'll also fuel your hike with some authentic alpine cuisine.

Eligibility and fees

The program is open to both professionals and to students at all levels, but you must be 18 years or older. Some hiking is involved.

Participants may choose to enroll in both weeks, or week one only. The cost is € 750 per week, including housing, cultural activities, and mountain field trips. While no academic credits are directly provided by the program, your home institution may choose to award you up to 3 European course credits (ECTS) based on the learning outcomes and expected time commitment (75 hours total, 60 contact hours).

Program fees do not cover airfare, most meals, mandatory insurance, or other personal expenses. The application deadline is extended to April 25, 2019; payment is also required at that time.
