Research paper’s abstract
An essential element in ageing well is the use of technologies to support quality of life and autonomy. Acceptability of such technologies for use by the elderly is central, with usage as a key issue to be addressed. The Living Lab ActivAgeing (LL2A) was founded by the University of Technology of Troyes (Champagne-Ardenne, France) specifically to address these issues, and to contribute to the development of relevant solutions for active and healthy ageing.
The approach adopted is based on the development and evaluation of technological solutions for ambient assisted living, using participatory and iterative design methodologies. The economic model and the organisational innovation of the solutions being developed are addressed as early as possible, in terms of market relevance, acceptability, usability, and obviously ethics.
Keywords: living lab, usage, Ideas Lab, evaluation, ethics, participatory design, autonomy, healthy ageing
